HengLong 1/16 German Tiger Air Soft RC Battle Tank Smoke & Sound (Upgrade Version w/ Metal Gear & Tracks)
I had read several reviews before ordering the Tank from Amazon. Most of the negative reviews were because the tank did not hold up to small children, that being said, the other negative reviews were due to mechanical failure most of which were failures of the wheels or the tracks. I decided to go ahead and take the chance and order the tank in an upgraded version that included the steel wheels and tracks.
I was very satisfied with the Heng Long German Tiger Tank and I found it to be a pretty good remote control vehicle. The upgraded wheels and tracks were a good choice for me. I had no problem running the tank in grass or on the carpet. It was fast and very responsive. I do like the finish on the tank. I can leave it like it is or paint it in another camouflage scheme if I like.
If you are planning to purchase more than 1 tank I would suggest that you plan ahead and make sure that the vehicles that you are ordering be on separate channels so that you don’t have 1 transmitter controlling all the track vehicles. I would go as far as to buy extra crystals if you’re running against some of your friends.
The model was delivered fairly quickly. The only problem was that the oil for the smoke had leaked in the box and the right fount light was bent.
Pros
- Realistic sound and you can control the volume.
- When the tank moved forward it moved in a straight line.
- Battery run time was over 20 minutes.
- Transmitter range was excellent. (Easy to change the channel crystals)
- Smoke was pretty good.
- Decals come in a separate sheet You can change the paint scheme and apply the decals later
- Highly detailed model
Cons
- This model is for ages 14 and up so if you give it to a 5 year old then don’t complain because they tried to ride it.
- The smoker oil leaked in the box. (The manufacturer needs to explore a different container)
- Right front light was bent. (It was easy to straighten).
- The air soft cannon was a little weak on the first few shots.
- The battery compartment is not water tight and the on/off switch is on the bottom of the tank so I would not run it in water.
- I wish the charger had a indicator light (This is not a game changer for me)
In short I would consider buying another tank from Heng Long. I would advise that you look up reviews on any item that you are going to purchase online paying special attention to all the reviews (Amazon is a good source for reviews). I have found that you will see people writing negative reviews for reason beyond logic which seems to be a little unfair. I have also seen reviews where the consumer tried to work problems out with the manufacturer to no avail. So please consider both the good and bad reviews equally. I have found no reason to not like this Tank. It is fun and enjoyable.
